MEGA VLOG #7 + Online Astrology Resources & A Kickass List Of Fun Things To Do This Summer...

2016, The Year Of The Queen has officially reached the half way point, and what a doozy of a year it's been so far! MANY challenges. MANY breakthrus. And so many lessons to integrate now, as we move into the next six months...

Therefore- I say it's prime time we all take a break.

Now is the perfect time to take a long, liberal moment for the integration process to really do it's thing.

Rest, in that way, is not an inactive pursuit, because, even as you're floating in the pool, gorging on watermelon and burying your nose in book after book, something profound is going on below the surface...

When you give yourself a hiatus, when you hit pause on the efforting & allow yourself to unwind, you give your Soul the space it needs to do some necessary, internal feng shui, which can really come in handy once the hustle & bustle of autumn starts to come back around.

That's what I'm doing for myself in July and my hope is that the 3 week hiatus I am now embarking on will encourage you to create some space like that of your own...

If you're interested in spending your summer diving deeper into the magickal sea of the cosmos, I've got a handful of kickass resources to share with you here.

First & foremost, if you don't yet have a copy of your natal chart, I recommend scooting on over to Astrolabe pronto & getting yourself at least a FREE report there to see how you like it.

And then- you can go nuts exploring all the different aspects in your chart...

Aquarius Nation, as I mentioned in the video above, is an awesome resource for exploring your own personal mythology, as well as the current astrological currents, and I really appreciate the heart KV, the kickass creatrix behind all things Aquarius Nation, puts into everything she creates.

Robert Ohotto. Robert Ohotto. Robert Ohotto. How many times have I mentioned Robert Ohotto??? Probably more times than is dignified, but whatever- I'm a fan. Did you see this BOOK NERD post I did on Transforming Fate Into Destiny? I also recommend subscribing to his podcast, Soul Connexions. Even if you don't care about astrology, you're still going to learn a ton about archetypes, shadow work and all things psycho-spiritual from a guy who really knows his stuff.

Exploring Astrology is my newest discovery & I'm super gung ho about it. The first episode I listened to was called "Exploring Jung", and from there I was hooked like a crazed & googly-eyed insta-fan. Check it out & join the club.

I never miss Anne Ortelee's Weekly Weather Astrology. She's my go-to gal for getting the scope on the week ahead & I've learned a lot since discovering her work early last year. She collaborated with Danielle Laporte on the creation of the Desire Map Day Planner & the forecast portion of that book really got my attention. It turned out to be spot on.

I also really enjoy the work of both Aepril Schaile and Sonja Francis and have had the pleasure of interviewing both for Every Witch Way!

Two new-to-me Youtube astrologers who I've been digging this year are Kirilly, The Cosmic Space Priestess and John Wadsworth. They are such opposite characters in terms of personality & appearance, but I really appreciate the balance that creates.

What are some of your favorite astrology resources online?

"We are born at a given moment in a given place and like vintage years of wine we have the qualities of the year and of the season in which we are born. Astrology does not lay claim to anything else." -C.G. Jung

And- if astrology ain't your thang- or even if it is, but you like to live a more well-rounded, pop-grounded life....

3 summers ago, I created this list of 10 Movie Rentals For A Kickass Summer Film Fest At Home and then the next summer, I added 3 more...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE movies & find that summer rentals are the perfect way to beat the heat & create a fun, bonding experience with friends & family on a long, hot, sticky day.

So- here are a half dozen more to add to the Must See summer viewing list...

American Ultra : So wild & action packed. It makes an awesome date night movie, as it blends just enough quirky romance to balance out the over-the-top shoot outs & espionage.

True Romance : Everything I said about American Ultra applies here, too. I was so obsessed with this movie when it first came out & even just thinking about it now puts a smile on my face. If you want to witness Gary Oldman at his craziest & Patricia Arquette at the peak of her charm, you gotta see it!

Trainwreck : Surprised me in the very best way. I was expecting it to be all raunch and bravado, but there's actually a sweet love story at the heart of it all.

Bridesmaids : This & Trainwreck would make such a FUN double feature - slumber party - girls night in... Oh the laughs! Like- pee-your-pants, snort-your-face-off laughter! And- it doesn't matter how many times you've seen it. It always brings the awesome.

Ex Machina : Truly one of the most unique movies I have ever seen & deeply intriguing. Another perfect date night flick.

Stand By Me : With it's classic soundtrack and heart string-tugging nostalgia, this is a coming of age story for every generation and a kind of time machine back to more innocent days. This would be a good one to watch with the whole family, from older kids to your grandparents. There's something for everyone here.

"You know what your problem is? It's that you haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered in the movies." -Steve Martin (Grand Canyon)

And- if you have yet to get hip to the magick of Netflix- you are totally missing out!!!

There is something so delicious about kicking back in bed with an arsenal of snacks & the glow of your laptop mesmerizing you into an entertainment trance late at night.

I actually started my Netflix journey catching up on New Girl from spot one, because I missed that train when it originally left the station... Although with Netflix you never really miss the train!

Hence- the birth of binge-watching.

I'm actually doing something similar with Mad Men now. I'm up to season 2 and crazy-enthralled.

If original programming is more your thing, Netflix is seriously giving HBO a run for their money in that department. Their original stand up is top notch (HELLO Bill Burr) and they've got a major handle on how to rock the episodic series. My faves so far are...

Love

Master Of None

Sensitive Skin

"Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light." -Vera Nazarian

If reading is more your speed, I recommend checking out the monster list of BOOK NERD posts I've been adding to over the years, although it mainly involves non-fiction. I do love to read fiction, too, the witchier the better! Joanne Harris & Paula Brackston are favorites in that regard...

And then- I've got one heckuva summer reading stack piling up on my nightstand even as I type, which includes...

The Three Only Things by Robert Moss

Madame Blavatsky : The Mother Of Modern Spirituality by Gary Lachman

My Wicked Wicked Ways by Sandra Cisneros

The Western Guide to Feng Shui by Terah Kathryn Collins

Facing East : Ancient Health & Beauty Secrets by Jingduan Yang & Norma Kamali

Oh yeah- and one more thing... MUSIC.

I made you this groovy summer playlist for when you're stuck in the kitchen, scrubbing the tub or just chilling out on the patio, lemonade & paper fan in hand...

May your summer be especially relaxing & all kinds of reviving this year, and- until we meet again...

MUCH LOVE to you!!! -xo
