BOOK NERD : Kickass Quotes From The Witch Of Portobello by Paulo Coelho

You can learn plenty about life and love and magick from fiction.

Paulo Coelho is a writer who has woven many mystical truths and life lessons throughout his enchanting life's work, and The Witch Of Portobello is a prime example of this.

It's one magnetic woman's tale told from multiple points of view, an unsolvable mystery, as all women are, a search for the truth and a powerful coming of age story.

It is a strange book that moves things around inside of you, and I like that, which is why I felt compelled to read it twice!

"Everyone's looking for the perfect teacher, but although their teaching might be divine, teachers are all too human, and that's something people find hard to accept. Don't confuse the teacher with the lesson, the ritual with the ecstasy, the transmitter of the symbol with the symbol itself." -Paulo Coelho

"... keep practicing. After a great deal of practice, we no longer think about all the necessary movements we must make; they become part of our existence. Before reaching that stage, however, you must practice and repeat. And if that's not enough, you must practice and repeat some more." -Paulo Coelho

"Pity those who seek for shepherds, instead of longing for freedom! An encounter with the superior energy is open to anyone, but remains far from those who shift responsibility onto others." -Paulo Coelho

"We are entering a new world in which we can choose to follow our own steps, not those that society forces us to take." -Paulo Coelho

"Now go back and meet all those people who you think know everything. Convince yourself that they're right, because we all know everything, it's merely a question of believing." -Paulo Coelho

"Don't be like those people who believe in 'positive thinking' and tell themselves that they're loved and strong and capable. You don't need to do that, because you know it already." -Paulo Coelho

"Instead of trying to prove that you're better than you think, just laugh. Laugh at your worries and insecurities. View your anxieties with humor. It will be difficult at first, but you will eventually get used to it." -Paulo Coelho

"Let go of the idea that the path will lead you to your goal. The truth is that with each step we take, we arrive." -Paulo Coelho

"In order for the more substantial pieces of wood to catch fire, the kindling must burn first. In order for us to liberate the energy of our strength, our weakness must first have a chance to reveal itself." -Paulo Coelho

"People read a lot of stories about witches, fairies, paranormals, and children possessed by evil spirits. They go to films showing rituals featuring pentagrams, swords, and invocations. That's fine, people need to give free reign to their imagination and to go through certain stages. Anyone who gets through those stages without being deceived will eventually get in touch with the Tradition." -Paulo Coelho

"Whenever a religion tightens it's rules, a significant number of people break away and go in search of more freedom in their search for spiritual contact." -Paulo Coelho

"If God is Mother, then we need only gather together with people and adore her through rituals intended to satisfy the female soul, ritual involving dance, fire, water, air, earth, songs, music, flowers, and beauty." -Paulo Coelho

"During any dance to which we surrender with joy, the brain loses it's controlling power, and the heart takes up the reins of the body." -Paulo Coelho

"Everything moves, and everything moves to a rhythm. And everything that moves to a rhythm creates a sound. At this moment, the same thing is happening here and everywhere else in the world." -Paulo Coelho

"Many people in this world are merely playing a role, unaware that there is an Invisible Hand guiding them." -Paulo Coelho

"Charisma- the divine force that manifests itself in men and women. The supernatural power we don't need to show to anyone because everyone can see it, even usually insensitive people. But it only happens when we're naked, when we die to the world and are reborn to ourselves." -Paulo Coelho

"Just as this plant was transformed into tea, just as the water mingled with the plant, I bless you and ask the Great Mother that the spring from which this water came will never cease flowing, and that the earth from which this plant came will always be fertile and generous." -Paulo Coelho
