THE MAGiCK OF DANDELiON + Spring Equinox, Ostara 2015

I was sitting in my yard yesterday, grooving on the sunshine, watching my cats play-fight in the grass and dozens of honey bees buzzing around this one huge flowering bush of what I think might be a weed, when I started to think about something I’d written for the Winter Solstice…

I wrote about how Christmas is a time of wonder. It’s a time of year in which so many of us are able to tap into the JOY & awe we felt as children…

And then- I was thinking about how this too is a time of wonder! This time of early spring, when the pollinators come out in full force & new life is sprouting forth with relentless enthusiasm…

And then- my next thought was…  

EVERY DAY is a time of wonder!

Many people say that we should try to keep the spirit of Christmas alive in our hearts year-round, and the thing about MAGiCK, the thing about aligning ourselves to the Wheel Of The Year and crafting spells of intention with faith & expectation… is that it invites us to do just that every single day of our beautifully witchy lives...

Lately I’ve been marveling at the wonder of dandelions to the point of obsession.

I just can’t believe these amazing creatures exist, and that they're such a vilified plant.

To me- the dandelion is the epitome of resilience, much to the bane of every Monsanto-wielding gardener.

You can try to get rid of them. You can cut them, spray them with poison, yank them up by the root, and they will return like gangbusters the very next day.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Mother Nature… She WiLL have the last laugh, and I think that’s so wonderful.

Wonder-Full. Filled With Wonder.

I wonder at the way this plant uses the wind, our breath and the brush of any random passerby to spread it's seed far & wide.

I wonder at the nutrients it contains within it's leaves & roots and the many ways it can be used medicinally.

It is a wonder, this charming little weed.
