MY KiCKASS LiFE

Hi! My name is Joanna DeVoe & I am the kooky, life-loving creatrix behind KiCKASS WiTCH : Putting The "K" In Magick.

I call myself a Witch with a wink & a smile, because I love nature & magick. I am not a Wiccan.

I practice an eclectic, personalized form of spirituality and like to think of my path as being of the psycho-spiritual variety, because I draw as much from psychology & personal development as I do from Mother Nature, Taoism and The Law Of Attraction.

I can't prove it, but I choose to believe that The Divine exists in everything & that everything exists in The Divine. Nature is my temple. Love is my religion.

I can often be found in my kitchen, brewing an herbal infusion, blending up a green smoothie or cooking with intent. I also enjoy helping other people move away from the Standard American Diet & into a more juicy, vibrant lifestyle, because that is one of the keys that allowed me to overcome years of debilitating anxiety & depression and to finally step into the kickass life I knew was meant for me!

I am a book-sniffing, cat-smooshing, tarot-reading, tree-hugging, incense-burning meditation enthusiast.

I am also a writer. I write every day, and I write on just about anything I can get my hands on, including post it notes, To Do lists, napkins, book margins and Facebook, but mostly in cheap spiral notebooks & on my laptop. I write song lyrics & poetry, personal development e-cources, kickass blog posts and witchy fiction. I've also written a few screenplays, which earned me a bit of cash but never made their way onto the big screen... I intend to revisit that dream one day!

I am an artist. I draw. My tools of choice are typing paper, Sharpies and ball point pens. I have a thing for bold, clean, tattoo-like images. My first illustrated project was a zine called "KOSHi Is...Too Cool For School" (2003). I then went on to illustrate on leather handbags (KOSHi Bags), produce a line of illustrated KOSHi panties & tees and create Will Work For Food : A Coloring Book For Grownups.

I also have a background as a performer (dancing, acting, singing, gymnastics) and co-front a rather intense, bare-bones punk rock band called Obedient Waves- thus giving life to my otherwise well-behaved dark side.

Most importantly, I am the mother of a very special guy named Tanner aka "The Tan Man". I had Tanner the day after I turned 20, so we've kind of grown up together. I have learned so much about loving life from my delightfully unusual, golf ball-obsessed, moon-gazing son. Our journey through autism has given me a unique take on life & I hope to inspire other parents with special needs kids to see the gifts in their challenges.

I am not perfect. I do not know it all. But I'm here. I'm happy. And I'm willing to share that with you!

MUCH LOVE -xo
