HiPPiE WiTCH : Bringing The Best Of 2013 Into The New Year...
What big lessons did you learn in 2013? Did you find a cool new recipe, workout routine or meditation style? Any good book or TV series get their hooks into you? Maybe you started working with a new Goddess or keeping a garden?
I think that it's just as important to honor the gifts of the year past as it is to release old hurts & habits, and that's what this episode of HiPPiE WiTCH is all about. It's the first show of the New Year, and I aim to kick things off with a smile :O)
Here are some of the things that I'll be taking with me into 2014, from the spiritual to the mundane...
★ Robert Ohotto's concept of transforming fate into destiny... I had been a fan of his radio show, Soulconnexions, for quite a while when I finally went out & bought a copy of his book, Transforming Fate Into Destiny. I do not share his beliefs about our soul choosing our fate before we are born, although I am open to that as a possibility & think it's a lovely concept. What does really resonate with me is the way he discusses transforming that fate into destiny. I had a series of Aha Moments reading that book & they continue to inform my perspective.
★ Paleo Recipes!!! I have been eating a whole foods diet for many years, thus SAD To SEXY. So- you would think that I'd have gotten hip to the awesomeness of Paleo Recipes sooner. But- nope. 2013 was the year that I really got into the magick of paleo. Paleo Recipes make eating real food, whole food straight from Mother Earth a tasty adventure. So- have I gone paleo??? I dunno. I'm not too keen on labeling myself that way, but I do know that I love to make & create Paleo Recipes & will be doing much more of it in 2014. (Fave Paleo Recipe Creatrix : Melissa Joulwan, author of Well Fed)
★ Debbie Macomber is an author that I didn't expect to enjoy, but I'm glad I stumbled upon her this past summer. I used to think that books like hers weren't edgy or cool enough- they were maybe something for my mother's generation. And- I did, in fact, buy a copy of her book, The Inn At Rose Harbor, for my mother, my mother-in-law, and my step mother for Christmas, but that's only after I myself enjoyed it so thoroughly. Her writing has a simple charm. It's cozy & sweet & makes a nice retreat from the stresses of this super-charged, "edgy & cool", modern world. The Inn At Rose Harbor is the first in a new series, and it takes place in Cedar Cove, which was home to another series she did earlier. So- yeah... maybe I'm losing some of my edge? Is that such a bad thing? Regardless, this year, I will definitely be spending more time in Cedar Cove.
★ Leading A Spirit-Led Life. This is a concept that I really got into in the spring of 2013 when I read (er- listened to) Tosha Silver's Outrageous Openness, and it just stuck. I think about living a Spirit-Led day, week, life all the time now, and, I have to say, it has had a profound impact on the choices I make & the amount of time I spend tuning into my own intuition, synchronicity & Life's mysterious little signs.
★ Shea Butter... Oh, Shea Butter, how I love thee! This stuff is miracle food for your skin. In it's raw, unrefined state, it will moisturize, soften, reduce wrinkles & kick acne's butt like nobody's business. It's also rumored to stimulate collagen production. LOVE. THIS. STUFF.
★ Instagram. I am obsessed! This was a discovery that I made at the very end of 2013, so it's still pretty new to me. Of course, I knew what Instagram is, but you can't really grasp the full range of it's awesomeness until you get yourself an account, post regularly & put a few key hashtags to work. I started my account to track my journey with the #Whole30 &, of course, #SadToSexy is my favorite hashtag. So far... I may be the only person using it! #LOL.
★ HiPPiE WiTCH : Magick For A New Age... I love my lil' radio show! It is a challenge to show up every Tuesday at noon with new material, but it is a challenge that I enjoy. It has given some structure to what I do & it is sooo much easier to call into BlogTalkRadio than it is to set up, shoot & edit a video. Plus, I've met the most amazing people over the airwaves. So YAY to more podcasting in 2014!!!
