HiPPiE WiTCH #514 : Summer Shadows : The Haunts Of Summers Past...
Summer is a time of exposure.
It reveals more of us, more skin, more body parts exposed to the elements—most intensely that gigantic ball of fire in the sky we call the sun.
The sun is at the peak of its powers now, giving life & taking it away, fueling, burning, drying things out.
As the summer persists and the heat intensifies, the shadows begin to grow long.
The humidity makes our hair heavy, our makeup run & the back of our legs stick to the chair. It also draws to us a host of bloodsucking insects and those that live on waste & decay. Wasps, ants, fleas & flies all want a piece of the action.
And when it comes to mosquitoes, we’re it. We ARE the action.
I’m laughing as I write this… I swear.
And- so who could blame us for getting a little edgy when the hot hot heat starts to overstay its welcome?
This, of course, is the dark side of summer.
Most people seem to look on the bright side of it, counting down to it even, firing up the barbecue, weeding the yard, busting out the bathing suits.
These people confound me. LOL.
I may look like a sunny California hippie witch, and I am… for the most part.
But summer tends to illuminate my secret goth heart.
This year, I’ve decided to go with it…
